**MIXTAPE ALERT** You're So Vain, I Bet You Think This Mixtape Is About You

Copyright Mcargobe's Blog Room
This month's mixtape is inspired by the feelings we have thinking of those that we despise the most. Yes we're done with the lovey, dovey crap over here, blind hatred is what fuels us creatively.

We've all met them, whether they were rude, crude, aggressive, calculating, deceptive or just you're straight forward liars the memory of them sticks around with you for a while after they're gone.

And what to say to such a person, how do you confront them, get your own back and show them up in front of everyone. Well if you're anything like me you usually just mutter something under your breathe and then think of the perfect come back about 5 minutes later which is useless because you've now lost your chance to speak your mind.

Some people always know the right thing to say at the right time and they also have the advantage of being able to put their thoughts into song so the whole world can see what a vain-dickhead-bug a boo-skinny little- freeloading-bitch they really are. Hope this mixtape is as cathartic for you as it is for me.

**FROM THE ARCHIVES**

In my travels across the interweb I stumbled on this amazing footage of a full Bikini Kill concert from their Reject All American tour in 1996.

It features a great performance from the band and a awkward scene at the beginning when Kathleen realises she is being filmed.

Any footage of the band is pretty hard to find so finding a whole filmed gig is a pretty rare so enjoy and there will be more material from the archives coming soon.

It's Been A While...

...What can I say no posts for a month but I can explain. You see I moved house and haven't been able to get the internet here till last week. Now I'm working 7 days a week so I won't be able to post as regularly as I would like but I've got quite a few ideas that I want to get out so I'll try and get those up soon.

For now I'll make your day by giving you the film that was almost forgotten in time. It's the infamous Lucy Thane documentary Bikini Kill Changed My Life. It's somehow found it's way onto the internet after all these years.

Enjoy x.x.x.

Bikini Kill Needs You

Being the dedicated Riot Grrls that I know you all are you've probably seen that Bikini Kill have put a call out to all of those who have a memory, thought or personal anecdote about Bikini Kill to send her your thoughts.

Please add your Bikini Kill story to this blog! It can be totally off the top of your head and doesn’t need to be fancy. Maybe it’s your reaction to a song we wrote, something weird that happened at one of our shows, a personal anecdote or just WHATEVER. Feel free to send images too!
Send yr story to bkillarchive@gmail.com and we will post it or just leave a comment somewhere on the site. Thanks!

She's also looking for videos and photos of old Bikini Kill shows so hopefully this online project will turn into a documentary of some sort, so it looks like we have something to look forward to.

Remembering the Original Rebel Grrrls

Head over to penjamin's channel on Youtube to watch more unseen videos of Bikini Kill. I haven't watched all of them yet but this vid is my favourite so far. I love Kathleen's spontaneous speeches.

*MIXTAPE ALERT* Oh Kathleen you're always the B-side to my heart

You lucky bloggers are in for a treat since i've got a whole bunch of Kathleen Hanna's, of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre fame, B-sides and rareties which were mostly recorded during her time in Bikini Kill.

I'll warn you in advance 'Rockstar' and 'Heartbeat' are a bit weird. The Wondertwins were an experimental project who were Kathleen and Tim Green, from Ulysses I.O.U. It was recorded for the famous Embassy Tapes, which also feature Bratmobile's first recording, in Olympia during riot grrrl in 1991.

Hanna collaborated with Joan Jett for 'Go Home' and also featured on Atari Teenage Riot's 'No Success'. I'm not sure where 'Mr Magazine man' is from or who she is singing with, so if someone could help me that would be great, thanks.

Viva Knieval was one of Kathleen's first bands that she sang with. They released a limited EP, titled 'Boy Poison', toured America for a few months and then broke up.

Hanna was also a guest vocalist for the introduction on Green Day's 'Letterbomb' song for American Idiot. More recently her band Le Tigre, now defunct, collaborated with Yoko Ono for her new album 'Yes, I'm a Witch.'
