New M.I.A Track on Twitter

M.I.A posted a new mysterious track on her Twitter page today.

The rapper posted a link to a mysterious website called Bedroom to the Hallway to the Road to the World. The bass heavy club track is as yet untitled. Check it out here.

Girls To The Front

If you're of the riot grrrl loving inclination like myself you've probably already ordered Sara Marcus' new book Girls To The Front.

GTTF documents the history of riot grrrl in the early 90s and what it meant to young girls then.

I can't wait to get stuck in and will be posting a review when I get the book.

For now I'll send you over to Tobi Vail's J I G S A W online fanzine who posted about The Girls To The Front discussion panel in Olympia where a lot of interesting topics where thrown around.

Wanna Join A Riot Grrrl Band....

Ok so this post is purely personal but it is related to female musicians as I've started a riot grrrl band. I responded to an callout for riot grrrl loving girls who wanted to start a band.

We originally formed so we could enter the Just a Girl competition but we were too late. Now a month later we've jammed, talked and already wrote two songs together.

Steph and Ray
Our influences are Sleater Kinney, Throwing Muses, Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, Le Tigre, Peaches etc.

If you wanna join this experimental fun we're looking for a bassist and also a drummer too.

If you like the look of us then get in touch at dontdanceherdownboys@gmail.com.

**SONG OF THE MONTH**

So It's been a while since I've posted anything on here. You probably haven't missed me but I've missed you and the release I get from writing so I'm going to try and update more often.

Here's the Song of the month for October is 'Freeloader' from Throwing Muses' 1996 album Limbo. I've been listening to this song non-stop since I heard it a week ago.

The simplicity of the lyrics, the quiet-loud song structure, Hersh's hypnotic growl I'm drawn to it all.

If you're a lover of female-fronted 90s noise rock you'll love this.

It's Been A While...

...What can I say no posts for a month but I can explain. You see I moved house and haven't been able to get the internet here till last week. Now I'm working 7 days a week so I won't be able to post as regularly as I would like but I've got quite a few ideas that I want to get out so I'll try and get those up soon.

For now I'll make your day by giving you the film that was almost forgotten in time. It's the infamous Lucy Thane documentary Bikini Kill Changed My Life. It's somehow found it's way onto the internet after all these years.

Enjoy x.x.x.
